2017 Ford Raptor Supercrew

Correct, also, this 2017 raptor had better have better fuel economy than the 6.2s, otherwise, why the switch from V8 to ecoboost? I'll probably get a '17 raptor regardless, but my hope is for about 18 to 19 highway

I have to think that the '16's won't have the problems that the '15's do. I was more thinking of the Raptor's intended purpose of being a street legal prerunner. Having a glass ceiling while enjoying a few jumps in the desert isn't exactly confidence inspiring. I know most Raptor owners don't take them off road but Ford no doubt doesn't want broken sunroofs to warranty either.

Exactly people getting butt hurt about a v6 that smokes their bigblock v8 cracks me up. In the end ford knows this is better so this is why they are moving this direction. With that said the ones who cry and say well I am moving to GM or dodge will find very soon that this is not going to just be a ford thing but an industry thing. And ford is just leading the pack
They make huge profits now on both ends, new EB sales charging a premium upfront and then long term EB complex design with more components service and repairs!

I love how everything turns into a EcoBoost vs. 5.0 thread, geez.
Really, buy what you want. I can see a decent argument for the Raptor to have a V8 option, but the outgoing model only had one motor (except what, two years of the 5.4 to 6.2 switch?) because it is a small segment vehicle. I can't see them adding a V8 option unless the Eco completely bombs.
My opinion is still of the mindset that EcoBoost vs.5.0 Mpg's is a moot point. When you consider the 33lb ft of torque difference and it being available at a much lower RPM, the Eco shines. Add a Tune and your laughing. Does it sound like a V8, hell no, but personally I'm over that "fact" that a sound makes a truck a truck.
Again, to others sound is important, so buy accordingly. Ford makes both for a reason and that's because they sell and it put's money in their pocket. Vehicle owners are more emotional and brand loyal than the brands themselves. I know a Boat motor that is "Made" by Mercury, has a Suzuki power plant, with FORD heads! It's all about the bottom dollar and marketing. The more buzz around the Raptor, the more they will milk it for all it's worth.
Dang it, now I want one too!

This redesign won't be a small scale production, I don't think. Ford saw the $$$ for the previous generation, and saw how the new F150's sold, despite ridiculous price hikes. They'll be pushing these things off the assembly line. I'm not sold on the new style yet...engine, aluminum, body redesign, etc. Interior is sick, but I won't ditch my 2013 for one, especially the first model year.

Personally, I think the same of the new one. When it's time to move on from my '14 FX4, I will likely look at the OBS Raptor. The only thing that would point me at a new one, is a massive improvement in MPG's. I can't see that really happening. I like the looks of the new one and can get a really good price (family works at a Ford Dealer), but from what I see right now a clean '14 would be my choice.

I went from a 12 6.2 Harley to a 12 Raptor, then to a 12 FX4 ecoboost... Then back to a 12 raptor. The ecoboost fx4 was only owned for 6 short months. The ecoboost applied to the F150 was a horrible idea. I researched before I bought but was not scared as most of what you read is pure negativity. After owning my truck nust two weeks, i began to experience these same issues. The worst was the acceleration stutter - did it as my wife and I were passing another vehicle and we lost all power.... Could have killed several people. The issues i found are not specific to any year ... They all have them because of inherent design issues from adapting the engine to the F150. I have a 13 SHO as well and that car doesn't exhibit the same issues because its chargevair cooler is in a different spot.
As far as driving inpression and mpg, i would still take the 6.2. I think the 6.2 drives better and has more seat of the pants power. When in the FX4 ecoboost, it always felt like the engine was a rubber band ready to snap. I drove 2hrs to trade the FX4 for the Raptor... I got identical mileage with each - 18.1mpg. I have always done well with 6.2 mpg. I would never recommend anyone to get an ecoboost F150 - problematic and just not safe.
