Timing chain question
Have a 95 f150 that was running wierd. It wouldnt start once it was hot in summer, like it was vapor locking, but then it started not accelerating when i pushed on the pedal. Changed plugs, filter, oil, etc.., Then yesterday shut it off and never got it to start. Its getting fire to plugs and sprayed some wd40 into breather to see if it would fire but nothin!! Any hints? Think its timing chain.
could be....
hard to say though... could be ignition could be fuel...
you can check the timing chain just by seeing how much slop is in it...
pull the distributor cap so you can see the rotor button...
which a socket and ratchet on the main bolt on the balancer turn the engine clockwise watching the rotor turn...as the mark on the balancer hits Zero stop... now turn it counterclockwise and count the degrees until the rotor starts to turn in the opposite direction... service limit is 8°anything close to that and the chain should be replaced
