Exclamation somethings wrong...

hey everyone. Just got a an f150 XL 4x4 and I always find a forum to share.

I have a problem with my engine (4.6L v8)

the rad hose blew that feeds the motor under the intake, so I had it replaced, after they replaced it and let it run for 15 min, the metal rad hose blew that is near the intake at the back. they say It might be a head gasket gone, building up to much pressure.

I am a skeptic of mechanics, and was wondering if it would be worth it just to replace that hose as well. maybe there was a weak spot in that hose as well, and when the other hose was fixed it blew...maybe...

any thoughts would be very helpful! other wise I may just have to dump a new motor in her....I am so broke....

That is definetly a posibility, but the cap should release the pressure. Run the motor with out the radiator cap for a while at running temp. If you get bubbles other than the normal burping that occurs after a loss of fluid then that might be your problem.

Do you mean the large upper radiator hose blew along with the heater hose? If that's the case the thermostat must be opening but the radiator could be clogged, next time your truck is warmed up to operating temp feel the top left and lower right corners of the radiator if the top left is hot and the bottom it's plugged.

thanks guys tried your ideas, no go...

after i fixed the the pipe which I called a hose by mistake, the truck was mis-firing real bad, so I had my friend do engine test with one of those reader things (forgot their name :P) anyways cylinder 4 and 7 missing, replaced all plugs started it up and BOOOM! white smoke all out the back after the engine got warmed up, he said cylinder head cracked, motor is F%#$%@.

Got some good news last night, I bought a 1999 XLT with 220,000 kms on it for 500 bucks. gonna swap in the motor, and should be good to go.
