Default Rev Limiter

Ok so im thinkin about gettin a programmer and it says it can raise your rev limiter. So my question is, is would it be safe to raise the limiter in my 99 5.4 too 5500 or maybe even 6000 rpm. the engine has 114000 on the ticker. thanks in advance.

I've got my 5.4 limiter set to 5900rpm, Edge has 5892rpm recorded. No problems yet.

I think that they set it where it would be safe for every idiot on the road to drive. I don't hold it at 6000 forever, but I wanted my shift points at 5400 to hold the best power curve, and set my rev limiter 500rpm above that, which was suggested and supported in several threads.
