Default Nightmare!

I have a 2000 f150 5.4 which has blown out a spark plug. Ive come to find out that this is typical on these engines. So typical that it has happened twice with my truck, once before I owned it and now, and of course it has to be the same cylinder. Its already been heli-coiled once. Im now at a crossroad as to either buy a new head or a new engine. I guess Im just looking for suggestions or advice on what to do. Is there an engine that this is less likely to happen? I got some quotes from some shops on just replacing the head and most say 19 hour job, 1800 in labor not including the cost of a new one, gaskets, etc. Has anyone experienced this before and if so what did you do?
