Default lightning motor..

I've never had one, would love to, I know there supercharged 5.4's but is that it? I was gonna take out my 4.2 for a lightening motor but there wayyyy to exspencive, can I just get a 5.4 and procharge it with stock internals? I also see that there only automatic? Can that be changed? T-5? My stock tranny? Sorry if I sound dumb, any advice would be nice, I was also thinking a turbo coupe motor

Watch the amount of boost. Your stock internals are only good for 6lbs or so. You will also need a new fuel system, plugs, injectors, pump and PCM reprogrammed. There are other things such as cooling that become a concern as well.

I would imagine the Lightning swap would be the cheaper route to go.

depends on how good of a deal you find on a lighting motor.... a SC kit is around 3-4k alone and you have to worry about the internals so i would think even for a little more money either get the 5.4 rebuilt with the right internal setup or go with the lightning motor

You had better put a driveline in your truck that will stand up to the extra power. You will be asking a 90 pound weakling to lift a ton. Lightnings have forged internals and better rods. The trans is a 4R100 and a 9.75" rear. Any serious boost is gonna cost some serious bucks.
