Engine swap questions
Ok, first off I'm a new forum member, first time posting. I have a 95 F-150 4wd with a 300 I6 and a 5 speed trans. I've been wanting to swap it for a 302. Today I picked up a 90 F-150 with a 302, manual trans 4wd. It runs great, and I picked it up with the intention of swapping the engines so I can have a 302 in mine, then selling the 90 with the 6 cylinder in it. Mine is an OBD 1 truck speed density system, so I don't see any issues there. My question is, of course Ford changed the firewall plugs for the main harness and the computer location in 92. Would it be better to spend the money to get an engine harness for the 302 and a computer to fit in a 95, or should I just adapt my truck to use the 90 harness and computer? I realize the pros and cons of both options, as well as the difficulties of transplanting an I6 from a 95 into a 90. Or, I could just part out the 90 once I'm done. It seems that I didn't do as much homework on this as I should have, or I would have found a 92-96 donor truck. But, I got a great deal on the 90. So, any thoughts, comments, or advice would be greatly appreciated. And finally, yes I appreciate and understand the difficulties of doing this. I've already converted my truck over to 4wd, installed a 6" lift and 35's, and done a few other simple mods to it. Thanks everyone
