Default Dipstick issues

I have a 2011 with a 5.0 Coyote. 100K miles. Currently replacing the oil pan gasket, and noticed that my oil dipstick is not inside the dipstick tube where it comes into the oil pan. Apparently the tube became separated with the top portion, and is off center.
Has anyone experienced this? The dipstick seems to works it way down to the oil pan just fine outside of the tube, so I am wondering if I need to replace the tube. Can this tube be replaced without removal of the valve cover?
I appreciate your feedback.
