Hey guys,

I’m looking at buying a 2009 F150 Crewcab platinum. It has the 5.4L with 81,000 Miles. It’s 3 hours away from me so I had the owner send a video.

Does this sound like a bad cam phaser? No CEL, seller says it’s been regularly serviced and has no issues.

Thanks in advance, would rather not make the trip if the motor is suspect.

that deep *clunk*ing kinda has that phaser sound. the trick is to have him pull the plugs off the solenoids and re-shoot that video with the engine hot. that will tell you the most about whether it's phasers or solenoids.
