Default 1987 302 sensor identification

I am in the middle of rebuilding my 87 302. It is in an XLT Lariat, 2wd, automatic. During the teardown I was removing wire harness at the rear of the block. On the rear of the block off center to the passanger side I found where a connector had been broken off of a sensor that was screwed into the block. I meant to have the mechanic save it for me so I could try to ID it at a later time but forgot about it. The top part of the sensor is still in the harness but I havent gotten that far in the reassembly.
Does anyone have an idea by this brief description what this sensor is? Maybe an idea of how I can identify it?
Regards,
Clord

It is the Knock sensor. Various four character define the uses and the base number is 12A699.
