Default Need some help

My dad owns a 2000 f150 with the v6 engine and the other day on the way to work it was idling rough and would backfire alot and then he went home to check it and couldnt figure out why it was doing it. Now when trying to start it nothing happens it wont start. Any ideas of why it backfired and ran like it did and then for it to not want to start? Any info is appreciated

Sounds like it has jumped timeig somehow. That would account for the backfire, rough running and failure to start.
