1996 4.9 sometimes when i cut the truck off it will jump and shake real bad on restart like its not getting gas .and also its has a dead spot in all 5 gears on acceleration any one have this problem or a fix

 

Do some maintenance, tune it, change PCV etc.

Check for codes. This is the first thing I want to tell folks who have an issue. After the code issues are addressed then normal issues can be fixed. Let us know what the codes are. Let us know what year engine trans and so on, so that we do not have to speak to issues that do not affect you or your truck.

 

sorry havent checked codes yet but truck is 1996 ,5 speed, 141000 miles .

 

have done tune up plugs,wires,cap,rotor button ,sea foam had codes checked had crank position sensor bad took it off cleaned it and check it with ohm meter it checks ok 330 ohms .i was told the pickup in the distributor could be going bad changed distributor today could it be fuel pump ?????

 

your truck sounds like mine, my truck does this when it's been run a while and you cut it off and try to start it 10 minutes later. when it's cold it starts right up.

I have a 4.9 1996 with 195,000 just bought it, I am thinking fuel pump or a bad injector leaking gas into the cylinder when you cut the motor off, flooding that cylinder, but these are a guess, still not sure.

 

truck is fixed hasent ran this good in over a year the fuel pump was weak only 18lbs .check your fuel pressure ...
