Default 89 f150 start up problem

I have an 89 f150 with 4.9 engine. Truck was running fine until I had a problem with the actuator rod in the steering column. It took me a few weeks to complete the repair. I would start the truck from time to time using a remote switch. After I completed the repair the truck starts sometimes and sometimes it won't, especially after setting overnight. It will start after sitting in the sun for a while and runs fine but may or may not start up when I shut it off. The truck has two fuel tanks. I have changed the filter but that did not help. Could it be possible pressure is building up somehow while sitting in the sun and helping it to start?

Thanks for your help!
