I think there's a typo there... A 265/75/16 is roughly 31x10.50, so how does a 245/75/15 make 31?

thank you for noticing, altho the only typo is the rim size on the 245s, but what im getting at, is if you take a 31/10.50r15 and compare it to a 245/75r16 its the same sized tire depending on the brands, because not all brands are the same size per-say even tho the width and aspect ratio match on both. i had 31/10.50r15 maxxis bighorn mud grips on the back of my 95 and i took it off to compare it to the 245/75r16 michelin ms tires i had on my 2000 f150 and they were the same height and width. plus having access to a million different tires over the 3 years i fixed and replaced tires helped me alot with identifying sizes and crossmatches like what we are discussing now, like before, take no offence to any of this, nor think im trying to be an *****. just stating my knowledge.

I've got a 93' with 140k on it, ran without oil and rust plug in the radiator without my knowing it for a couple months at least! I wondered what the ticking sound was when I blasted a snow drift, I didn't think to check the oil! Best engine for farm work/ weekend i could ever ask for! I'll never let it die!

1984 F-150 4x4 300 I 6 with 79,000 original miles. Guess I'm a newbie compared to the rest of the mileages posted. The 300 I6 is just like a Zippo.

1991 F150 300 with 3.08s, a 5-speed manual and 91,000 miles. I get about 15mpg city, 18 freeway. For a Supercab with a 6000-pound dry weight, that's pretty good.

Needs AC though.

Has anyone done a build geared towards mpg yet but still allowing the truck to be used as a truck? I'm sure the capabilities are there just someone has to adventure down that path.

a real good engine..My 1981 bronco had over 400000 miles on it..most of them in 4wd low range..It was used by the Colorado Parks dept for 12 years before I bought it. My 1984 F-150 is running like a new one..I get 16 MPG with a 4.11 rear gear..The engine is built like a 427..cross drilled crank, forged everything internal..Just a fine powerplant.

400k is the most I've heard on these engines. My miles per gallon has been hard to track due to carb problems. Runs like a pig right now. Ran 2 kits through it and after numerous times playing with it, decided to go for a totally rebuilt one. It should be coming in later this week. If I can get 18 mpg, I'd be happy. I love this engine for the power it puts down in rough country.
