Maxtrac drop spindle - caliper bracket interference
Has anyone that installed the 2" drop spindles on a 2015-up had any clearance issues with the brake caliper bracket near the lower mounting point?
I installed the spindles on my 2016 about a week ago and everything seemed fine, but I was admittedly in a bit of a hurry while doing the install. When I had my alignment done my alignment guy mentioned that front right brake seemed to be dragging a bit. I already had a new Powerstop Z36 kit sitting in the garage waiting to be installed, and as my truck had 60k on the original brakes I was intending to install them very soon, but this pushed me to go ahead and knock them out so I could take a look at that front caliper and investigate.
When installing the brakes yesterday, as I went to bolt the driver's caliper bracket on it seemed a little crooked in relation to the rotor so I got down to look closer and have a better angle on it. I noticed that the lower mount had about a 1/16" gap where it wasn't seating against the spindle. The spindle has a curvature there, and the mounting bracket has a bit of a step up, and they hit each other. I used a sharpie and marked a line on the bracket using the edge of the spindle as a guide, took the bracket back off and ground down a small triangular area with my grinder so they mate up perfectly now. The passenger side wound up being the exact same way, so I ground it down again a bit. I forgot to get pics after taking the bracket off, but I've included two pics of it installed showing the gap and black line marking the edge of where it needed to be ground down. These pics are of the passenger side.
I'm curious if there was some changes to the caliper brackets at some point, or if anyone else has run into this? I would also suggest that anyone else that has the drop spindles installed go check out their lower mounts and make sure they're mating up properly! As I said, the bracket will bolt up and feels okay, but I bet this was contributing the brake dragging a bit and it definitely wasn't as strong of a mount as it is when mounted flush.
I like my spindles I'm on yr 4 ,I need to check that out but it has been 4 yrs, kinda late now
I just went in for alignment and guy said I need to buy the cam kit to align it 400 bucks I said bye bye ,going some where else .I noticed after 35k the inside had some wear
I also need to get of my butt and rotate might have helped but lazy me
A little off subject, but I am considering a pair of these. I used drop spindles on older trucks on several occasions and lost some turning radius. Is turning radius effected by these?

I didn't measure it, but I can't say I've noticed a decrease since installing these. Having run wider wheels and larger than stock tires for years I'm in the habit of not cranking the steering all the way, as I've occasionally had a little rub at full lock with various setups. I feel these ride and and handle better than stock overall.
