How hard are the emblems on the tailgate to remove? I'm not sure how to get behind them.

I've heard people say to use a heat gun and fishing line. Should come off pretty easily though.

So it's just attached with double sided tape or glue or something?

Yes, typically 3M double-sided tape. That's also how the side badges and handle covers are attached.
