Default WTF with the lug nuts?

So recently I acquired a set of OEM 16" wheels from a 2001 F150 from a buddy of mine. I paid very little for them (but they required a little love) and got the center caps and the lug nuts.

Today I went and had them put on and the lug nuts don't fit! What the hell? Now, I'm running with the lug nuts from my old wheels with no center caps since they won't fit on with the old lugs. Damn.

When did they change the size and from what to what?

Yep right they changed right around 2000.. I ran into this problem when changing the rotors out on my grandpas 2002 we got the rotors from summit and I changed everything over and it went great untill I put the wheels on.. they gave us 12mm rotors.. I never knew there was a difference untill then.. I was pissed to say the least lol.. I had to take the front rotors back off and go exchange them.. I made them give me new seals to put the rotors back on for the trouble lol

So then I should just be able to get the M14 lug nuts and the center caps should work just fine?

Okay im kinda gettin confused now.. you said the rims came off a 2001 and your truck is a 2002 right???

If thats the case then both trucks should have used 14mm Studs.. Your lug nuts should be 14mm so what was it that was stopping the center caps from going on?? is it the type that clamp to the lugs and there to tight?? or are your lugs to long??

I could not even put the lugs on. They were too small.

I got the lugs from his 2001 but IDK if he gave me the lugs it or his 99. LOL. Or maybe the wheels were from his 99. IDK. They fit. Haha. They're stock XLT alloy wheels.

Yes, the center caps clamp onto the lugs.

Okay he gave you 12mm lugs.. use you existing 14mm lugs and put the rims on try to put the center caps on if they fit great!! if they dont take the center caps and bend the clamps open just a little bit.. they may be for 12mm lugs so just bend em out a little untill they fit over the 14mm lugs..

I'm not following this either. All you wanted to do is swap wheels? Why would you need to swap lug nuts or center caps? You should be able to bolt up with what you already had. Is your old lug nut not fitting into the recess of the new wheel?

I had horrible aftermarket wheels on my truck, hence the replacement with stockers. The lug nuts for them were chrome and too long for these caps.
