Default wiper issues

2001 4.6 2WD
I'm having wiper issues. Stopped working when driving. Put in park, and I can turn on,off, adjust speed. In any gear, can't change any of it.
First I was told to change the multi switch, so I did. Wipers still didn't work, and I lost flashers and turn signals.
Then I was told GEM. Changed GEM and fuse block, got flashers and signals back, but wipers stayed the same.
Where should I go next?

Did you use a new GEM, or did you source one from the junkyard?

My current situation is similar to yours, my driver side window ('97 F150, Std. Cab) works fine in P and N, but will not go down in R or D. The passenger window does not go down in R or D until the GEM fires a relay or something. I hear a click from the fuse box -- sorta -- that then allows the passenger window to go down. I can put both windows up at any time, any gear, but going down requires the gear selection to be P or N for the driver side, and after a relay clicks then the passenger side goes down in R or D also.

Also, since the symptom set changed with the new combo switch, did you put the old one back in to see if the new one is the cause of the new symptoms?

junkyard box and GEM. I haven't tried going back to the original switch yet, but plan to. I doubt my GEM and the junkyard one would have the same problem, but who knows.
I think my next moves are, old switch, checking voltage into fusebox on the fuses that feed the GEM I understand that's 6,8,15,20

Closest troubleshooting I have is for a 2003.
It SHOULD be correct for 2001 also.

I'd double check the junkyard GEM again, this generation commonly gets a leaking front windshield that leaks water on top of the GEM. My 03 XLT gets the same issues as yours after a humid or rainy day.
