Winter is here!
Also in Minny here. I actually bought 2x sand tubes from Menards after that ice rain nonsense we had a few weeks ago. I was leaving Eden Prairie and I didn't see anything on the road so I went along, not even gassing it or stomping my brakes and out of nowhere while going 40mph or so my truck starts fish tailing. I got the sand tubes and no issues so far...although the snow hasn't really been sticking so we will see.
2x 70lb tubes for $9. Figured it couldn't hurt so why not. My coworker swears by them and I figured for under $10 why not.

My winter tires are different sizes when the weight of the truck is on them (2 diff brands, both 265). About 3/4" difference. Im cheap and dont want to buy new tires. Due to this I rarely use 4wd unless I'm on the lake or stuck somewhere.
Even though transfer cases are fairly cheap compared to sliding into something...
Driving for the condition is key.
Up in Duluth I'm hearing they got 10" yesterday and another 15" tonight. We are supposed to get 3-7" on top of the 2" slush mess we had today. I really shouldn't have procrastinated putting my winter rims/tires on.
Snow and cold coming your way Jbrew!

Not in awhile tho.
I've added 4 - 60lbs (240 lbs) bags of sand from Tractor Supply to my new 2003 FX4 4x4. Mellows the ride nicely, but doubt if it will make much difference. Think I'll just leave it in 4wd for the winter...
