Default Windows not working. Please help!!!!

I know this is posted a million times but, I just cant seem to find one exactly like my problem. Okay here it goes, I bought my truck used. And the drivers side window worked fine but the passenger side wouldn't do anything. About a month ago, my drivers side window started acting up. It would skip while it was rolling up. The 4x4 light on the dash would blink. And the dome light in the cab would blink? About 2 weeks ago, my drivers side window sunddenly stopped working. Checked and have power from the switches. Can hear the motor trying to roll up but it can't cause it's up of course. But nothing happens when you try to roll down. Also checked the power on the wires running into to motor. Power on going up. But not going down. So we lose power somewhere between the switch and the motor. Help please!!

so the windows go up and down fine, when they decide to work? do you have any aftermarket parts installed that would interfere with the electrical system?

Dealt with this on my Crown Vic. Inside the gearbox part of the motor assembly, is a set of nylon gears, with three nylon "roller bearing" bits, which are about 5/16th" diameter, by maybe 1/2" length. Cylinder shaped.

Those get compressed down to oval shapes, then fail by breaking apart. Standard Auto Parts carries the roller bearings, which only cost about $5 per set. Problem is, the motor is already tired and weak at that point.

The "jamming" of that gearbox puts a massive load on your electrical system, hence all of the apparent electrical gremlins when it happens. But, it's really not an electrical problem at all. At least, it wasn't in my Vic.

Spend the $58 per motor, and just replace it. You shouldn't have to replace the window glass regulator, just get the motor/gearbox at O'Reily's, and be done with it.

Hope that helps!

Your master switch or the wiring from the drivers side master switch is most likely bad. Check the drivers door connections where it goes into the harness for a broken wire. Usually it's the wiring, but occassionaly the switch will burn up on one side or the other.

The master switch? Like the button you press to roll it up and down? It has power going through the up and down when the switch is pressed. Just no power where the wires run into the motor itself. Where does the wire from the switch go before it splits off to the different wire back to the motor?

chances are it's the switch.. wiring doesn't just "go bad"... if we were talking about a 1960-70s Italian or British car it would be different
