That and insurance is a little of double on a new truck vs what I'm paying now, but as I just found out, my truck isn't the most comfortable road trip truck.
What's not comfortable about it? Even with my 2200 springs and Grabber AT2's mine still mostly good on long trips.

I think it'll get even better when I switch to a Suspension lift and turn my Torsion bars back to 0.

Totally agree. I traded my '02 for a '14 and I was not happy.

It's better now that I have a '15 but I still miss my '02. The way it looked, the way it drove......sigh. Took it to all 48 states and I loved playing in Moab.

Now I just have to start over.

Yea I started a thread on that about 7 or 8 months ago. There's only one kit that allowed you to keep it at 0 or real close to it.

It's not so much the ride as it rides like a dream compared to when my dads Bronco was on the road lol. The ride quality does suck and I notice my back gets stiff but I'm young and I can handle it. It just sucks being on stock gears with big tires (I wasn't able to track down a decent set of 33's for the last trip) so the RPM's like to stay fairly high on the freeway.

I owned two 10th generation F150's. One 1998, and one 2002 F150. Both were XLTs, both were SuperCabs, both were equipped with the not so great 4.2L V6 engines. The second one was optioned slightly better, but neither was exactly luxurious. The first one got hit by jackasses with no insurance more times than I could count. I wasn't really sorry to see that one go in favor of my first new vehicle which was the 2002 F150 XLT.

A year later I traded it for a 2003 Silverado with the 5.3L V8 which made me forget all about that 10th generation F150 until it ended up at the dealership for service time and time again. My 2002 F150 was reliable and served me well. The Silverado was faster, but many characteristics of the 10th generation F150 were more better as far as I am concerned. I do think about it every once in awhile, but honestly I missed the 2005 Expedition that replaced the Silverado more. It was a much nicer vehicle. Even my 2008 F150 didn't make me forget about that Expedition. I will say that so far my 2015 is the vehicle I've been the most pleased with overall. There is almost nothing I don't like about it. While I wouldn't mind a couple more options, it's the first truck that had everything I really wanted. 4WD, 3.5L EB, Lariat, etc.

I think we have all had the "one that got away" when it comes to vehicles. Whether or not we just wanted something new, at the time or had a practical reason, it was a decision we'd eventually regret. I had a 2002 Firehawk Trans Am. I still have dreams about that car to this day. I haven't had it since 2004. Its the one I'd keep if I had a do-over for that day.

So yeah, I agree with the OP. If your itching for something new, think long and hard about giving up your 10th gen. Especially if it's a vehicle you've had for a long time.

Granted I bought another fx4 tenth gen, but I was seriously sad to possibly have to sell my old lifted 98 2wd. It was my first pickup, first vehicle with a v8, but I missed having 4x4 and got an 02 fx4. Thankfully my dad bought my 98 from me. Although he took 2" of lift and the 35s off, I still get to drive it from time to time. I do miss it but having an xlt makes a much better daily than an xl.

The little 4.6 sure feels spunky with the 4.11s and 265s after driving it with 35s for that long!

I've contemplated upgrading to 2012+. But then i remember other people are idiots and the general population around here has no respect. There is a large state college, business colleges and a community college in my town plus a high population of Somalians. These people do not think twice about dinging or scratching vehicles. I am irate when someone scratches my truck now, I can't imagine if I paid $40k for one and some jackass rubs against it.

I do like that my 02 is narrow compared to the newer styles.

Like some of ya, it does truckly duties and it does them well. Aside from better mileage and more creature comforts, I see no real reason to upgrade yet.

Currently in the market for a car so I can leave my truck in the garage and only bring it out when duty calls.

Don't forget having to put up with the 09-14 guys. Actually, I would pay to see that lol. Thank you for contributing to my thread. 👍

I have thought about and have looked as gone even as far as a preapproval from my bank. But i have 175k miles behind the wheel of my 10th. It does everything I need and want it to do just as well as a 12th/13th gen. So I figure i'll keep it till it rusts apart or is no longer economical to repair.
