I've noticed a lot of people hating on our generation of F150, what's up with that? I think it's one of the best. Better than the older ones from the eighties and nineties IMO.

I know a lot of people don't like the torsions cause coils ride so much better but we have a free lift kit in our trucks and can stuff some big tires in our fenders.

That's one thing I love about our trucks. I drove a 250 before, so the ride doesn't bother me, haha. I'm even considering throwing a solid axle under mine.

Heres my take on it. The most obvious reason is that; Most of the guys on the forum have the newer generation of F150's. Whenever you check online viewers, there are almost 4 times as many online(at anytime) for just the 09 and up. Not including the 04-08 generation. And who is going to say another year or model looks better than their own? Who wants to pay for a 45k truck and say a 2000 model looks better? I know I wouldn't. Hence their is alot of pride and bias/prejudice when it comes to ownership.

Also, note that our trucks are almost a completely different style than any other ford generation. Some people love them(me including) and some people hate them.

Honestly, I love the new 2012 Fx4's, but would I trade my 03 in on it? Probably not. I'm attached to my truck, its like a part of me. I would sale my BMW 10-fold before I let go of my truck.

I would like to hear some other peoples inputs on this too. And BTW great thread.

To add on to my previous post and to touch on the topic of being "under-powered".

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the 04-08 off the 5.4 3V with 300hp? This is around 30-35 more hp than an 03 5.4. Which is really not that significant when you considering how reliable the older 5.4 2V were. It's nothing to see 200k + on an older 5.4 2V.

If you look at the 09-up generation. Sure a 100hp increase is a great deal of power, but I'm not to sure I want a V6 turbo or charged enginge in any of my pickups. I think most of us 97-03 guys enjoy the rumble of our V8's and wouldn't have it any other way. Honestly if you are complaining about gas mileage get a car or bicycle. I'm perfectly contenet with my mileage and didn't expect it to be great, its a truck!!

The only 6 cyc. im jealous up is the 300 I6. Those things are mean, and ungodly for reliablitly. My father had one with over 350k and never missed a beat. Would be nothing for it to out pull a competitors V8.

Sometimes I think I'm stuck in the early 2000s. My first "new" truck I ever bought was an '01 F250 in '02. I loved that truck, best truck I ever owned (apologies to my old and current 150s, haha). I just do not like ANY of the super duties after the '07 model and I'm just not too keen on the gaudy front ends of the '09+ 150 yet. I wish the headlights were more like the Expedition instead of that weird configuration with the blinker looking like an after thought. The 250s will never look right again until they go back to a style similar to the '07-

Yeah my 89 300 I6 had 327k when I traded her in. Heck, my 01 V10 only had 312 HP, but it would pull/haul anything I wanted it to. HP is only half of the equation, torque is the rest. Not sure how much torque my 01 5.4 260 HP motor is cranking out, but she'll flat out go and pull. Agree with ya 100%.

Lol... I think they hate us more once a month!!!! Lol that would be when they pay the $700 payment !!!!
My 03 will not be the last truck I buy I knew that for a fact!! But it will not be leaving me as long as I am alive!!! I may let my kids use it , but it is paid off and this is the first time I have done any upgrades to it.

Was talking to my tech , he says our 5.4 is the best engine made! Less problems and they don't brake.
Just my 2 cents!!!!!

I've already decided that I'm driving my '01 until it just absolutely won't go anymore. Yeah, that high dollar payment sucks. Those new trucks just aren't worth what they want for them. I think it's stupid to pay double for the same truck I had years ago. I priced a 2010 F250 built liked the '01 Lariat I had, double what mine sold for brand new in '01. Gotta be a friggin rich man to get a decent truck now days.
