Why do you guys love your 97-03 F-150? What makes this truck appealing to you? Is it the drivetrain? The body styling?

Looks, simplicity and reliability. The Pay back received from good maintenance with this Ford product. So far that's been unending. Hasn't left me stranded..knock on wood. Well over a quarter million miles, what more can you ask for from a truck always up for a challenge ?

Well, for starters its better made than anything I can buy today.

After 13 yrs, interior looks better than most trucks 5 yrs old. Its aging well. Holds up well. Nothing rattling, breaking apart.

Minimal problems overall. List is very short compared to a very long list of things that needed fixing on my Z71 at much less age.

Yeah.... by comparison, my Buddy's Chevy needs lots more work.

I mostly love it because it's mine, and it's paid for. The old girl is officially 20 years old (Built in 6/96) and still sexy as hell.

Mainly, I like mine because it didn't come with payments. My needs for the truck are few and far between, but when I need a truck I NEED it. Hauling motorcycles or landscaping/ building supplies for work around the house on weekends doesn't justify a brand new fullsize truck for me. Most of the time it sits in the garage, collecting dust.

I wanted a good, solid, reliable pickup that would go where I want it to and pull what I need to. That's exactly what I got. She's no beauty queen, but she's mine.

I agree with this 110%. Mine has 206k miles and has been the most dependable vehicle I've ever owned. Also the main reason I don't drive Chevys anymore.

I'll also add that I have a 2012 F150 that is a lot faster, but for truck duties I would much rather use my 10th gen. I also prefer to drive my old truck anytime I'm not with the family. 10th gen is an extended cab, and my 12th gen is a crew cab. And let's not forget how good these old trucks look!

From a style standpoint, I like the curves of the body (especially the flaresides) and the fact that it's not a behemoth. For awhile, it seemed like every manufacturer tried to outdo the others with "no, MY truck is bigger!"

I like the relative simplicity, and the fact that I can still work on it myself. And what "creature comforts" it lacks compared to new ones (seat heaters, auto up/down windows, Bluetooth stereo, backup cam, etc.) can be added as aftermarket, and I like projects!

About the only thing I wish these older trucks had is the gas mileage and power of the new ones.

Andy
