Default wheel stud question

Hey i got a 97 f150 and i replaced all the studs on the drivers rear, and the other day they all broke off and the wheel fell off. I put all new ones in it and i was tightening them up with the impact wrench and one broke. The air pressure was only at 120... is there something wrong with the studs i am buying? also what is the proper torque amount?

My guess is that you are over tightening the studs. I have a 2003 STX and the torque for five lugs is 150 ft/lbs. Check yours with a torque wrench. I never tighten mine with a pneumatic impact wrench. I might also add the when using a pneumatic impact wrench...the longer you apply power to the wrench...the more torque is applied. You might want to snug the lugs ( in the proper pattern ) with a impact wrench..then torque them with a torque wrench.
