Default what's the difference

Am adding a lift to my truck what's the difference between the 99 f150 2wd shocks and the 4wd shocks from what I have looked up they would be a bit longer my truck is 2wd should I be able to install the 4wd shocks on it since the lift would give it the extra clearance

Yes and maybe. It all depends on the length of the shock when it is pushed down. Collapsed distance vs travel. It can go out more, but can't be pushed together any less than the original shock. If it is longer than the original when collapsed, then it most likely would bottom out and be useless. If is about the same length when collapsed, then you can use them, provided the mounting is the same. Did I make that clear enough? I hope so.

How much lift are you doing?
Are you extending the bump stops?
How much are you extending the bump stops?

If you're extending the bump stops 2 inches you'll be ok
If this isn't a "kit" you have to do some math

Extended length depends on the articulation and the amount of droop at worst case
collapsed length depends 100% on the bump stops. You Always want the collapsed shock length to be at least 1 inch less then perch to perch when totally stuffed and the extended to be at least 1 inch greater than perch to perch at full droop
