Default What should I do about bad rust?

I have a 2001 F150 that is rusting out at the rocker panels and the structural support under the cab. It is starting to creep up to the part of the cab that is under the door. I took it to a body shop and the guy said anything short of replacing the parts of the cab was going to have me coming back in a year with more rust. He quoted me at over 8K to fix it. He said I could go to maaco and they would fill it with foam and patch it and paint it but the rust would be coming back through shortly and it would still cost me a couple grand.

My thinking at this point is that I will just let it go. Is there anything that I can spray up in there that will slow down the rust? I was thinking about filling the open area with some of that spray foam insulation, would this be a bad idea? I would like to get another 2 or 3 years out of this thing before I buy something else.

No, the rockers need to be replaced. My uncle had it done on the truck I now have and it was around $1200. Get a second quote.

Sounds like that body shop only wants to do insurance jobs. I just got mine out of the body shop 2 weeks ago with new rockers and cab corners for $1300. Like Rbrais stated, get another opinion/quote, but yes the rusted metal has to be cut out and replaced.
