What is this part?
My son's 98 F150 4.6 has an oil leak that I think I have traced to the leaking part. As dumb as it sounds, I don't know what the part is called. It's right behind the power steering pump on the driver's low side of the block. It's a vertical housing that the lower radiator hose attaches to. I've marked the stud that drip a drop every 5 seconds when the engine is running. The second arrow is pointing to the housing itself. It seems to be held in place by two nuts on two studs. The lower stud is the one I marked. The oil seems to be coming from the gasket under this stud and then runs the length of the stud and drips off. You can see a drop forming in the picture. But if this housing gets the coolant into or from the engine, HOW can it be leaking oil?
Anyone who knows what the housing is please let me know and any opinions on how it can leak oil would be appreciated as well.
Thanks!
Ron B.

When looking for a fluid leak on a vehicle, cleaning the surfaces with a pressure washer is (in my opinion) always the first step. Then run the engine and look with a flashlight with the engine running (using caution) and then off.
Of course, the fan tends to blow drips backward away from some leaks.
Fixing leaks is kind of like fixing noises and vibrations...the fixer has got to be there.
