Oil cap says 5w-20 and sticker under the hood says 5w-30 I have a 2000 5.4L. Also how many quarts do you guys use I used 5 and it looks a little low

 

5.4 V8 here as well. Per my owners manual, I have always used 5w-20 and it takes 6 quarts.

 

I use 6 quarts of 5/30 Castro full syn.

 

I use 6 quarts of 5w-30 Mobil 1 I also have 198000 miles.

 

I have never used 5w20. I had a 98 expedition with the 5.4 and I used 5 30. I still use 5w30 on my 4.6 f150. 6 quarts for both of them.
If this makes any differnce to you, if you care, I use valvoline dura blend

 

I have the 97 with a 5.4 and I use motorcraft oil and oil filter and I have almost 179k and that's all it's ever been and I use 6 quarts of 5w30. The ole girl still purrin lol

 

2002 5.4 Triton, I'm currently using Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w-20 with a Motorcraft FL820S filter. Could change the oil type depending on an upcoming oil analysis.

 

I just used 6qts of 5w-20 Castrol GTX

 

Just used 6.5 quarts of royal purple and a k&n filter about 9k on the new motor and about 185k on the truck.

 

02 5.4 , motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend and a motorcraft filter. 158,000 miles and runs great after 3,000 miles on the oil change the oil still looks good. I usually go 5,000 on changes A. Because its a synth blend and B. because I do very little dirt road driving.
