Default what does this hose do?

hello I have a 98 f150 4.6 scab and have a leak at the rear of the truck. There is a rubber hose coming off the junction block splitter for the rear drum brakes. The steel brake lines come from this to the wheel cylinders. anyway this hose is attached to it. It goes up to the bed and that is where it is leaking. Kind of exits around the top of the shocks in the bed crossmember. It rotates but does not disconnect. It seems to be a vent but I am not so sure. I know the brakes don't vent. anybody dealt with this before. The fluid seems to be a gear oil but doesnt smell like it. hope I made sense out of this.

That is a vent hose.. For the rear end... If theres oil coming out of it sounds like you need to change your rear diff oil... Its foaming out... or something.. I've seen this before.. You can take that hose off and that nipple will come out of the rear end.. it holes that junction block to the rear end.. it has nothing to do with brake fluid...

Default rear vent

thanks for the help. Do you think the vent could have been plugged and the heat or pressure purged it. It did make a mess on my spare tire and shock. I did change the fluid 3 years ago after the pumpkin cover rusted through.
