I've got a 98 5.4L, 4x4, with AC, but haven't got a clue as to which automatic transmission I have. The dipstick is a cable about .090 in diameter, not the pressed flat metal that seems to be the standard. I have no owners manual or anything that describes this stuff to me.

Get the trans code off the door sticker. "U" is 4R70W (most common), "E" is E4OD.
