I got around to resolving the issue with the odometer
25 mins on youtube
30 mins taking the dash apart
2 minutes with a soldering iron
15 mins putting the dash back together
15 mins taking the dash apart
2 mins fitting the trip push rod that had fallen out when I took the unit apart
15 mins putting the dash back together

And no my odometer is working again!

No codes, and its not a big vibration, but enough to feel it stopped at a light or anytime its idling, really.

Previous work done to try and resolve it:

- Spark plugs (Motorcraft)
- Fuel Filter
- PCV valve (Motorcraft)
- Cleaned MAF sensor
- Searched for vacuum leaks
- Tested resistance on COP's and injectors.

I will continue with this challenge..
Have you checked the PCV assembly back by the firewall ? They like to leak back there, develop pin-holes.

Have you run the engine without the serp belt yet ? Try that, could be a bad pulley bearing.

Have you checked the the upstream converter heat shields ? Spot weld (s) may have broken free....may have to wrap it with a few band clamps.

You'll find it eventually...

EDIT: Also check the ignition harness above the AC accumulator. The harness may have sunk down with time too close to the accumulator, may have even come into contact with. If this occurs it can make for a magnetic disturbance within the ignition system creating a measure of ignition havoc. To test this, simply move the harness further away from the accumulator at idle and see if it smooths up.

Thanks Jbrew, I'll look into those things, very helpful.

Might be worth it to clean or replace the idle air controller (IAC) my truck was doing the same. Pulled the IAC off and hit it with some carb cleaner, wiped the residue out with a microfiber, did the same on the electrical connector with electronic parts cleaner. Smoothed it out.

I had the issue with the pcv hose near the rear of the engine. Started with a surging idle then gave me a CEL with codes P0171 P0174. Found it by spraying brake cleaner and it would change the RPM.

Thanks. I don't seem to have any idle issues in terms of rpm's fluctuating. They sit rock solid and don't move at all. However I can feel and see vibrations when sitting in the truck. When I'm driving it's unnoticeable, but if I rev the engine at a standstill and pay attention, I can feel that the vibration does continue with the revs as they climb.. It feels like a minor miss of some kind. It started out of the blue over a year ago now.. actually more like 2 years ago.. and has never left.. or gotten any worse for that matter.. its just stubbornly there. lol.

Could be motor mounts, Trans mount, body mounts, exhaust hangers. Any one of those can cause you to feel more vibrations. I felt more vibrations after a muffler delete 😅

Right! I have wondered if it could actually be a motor mount, or maybe the harmonic balancer.. something other than the engine. If this thing would just set a code for me I'd be pretty happy hahaha!

Finally got the lift installed in time for an oil change.
Will give it a wash on my next day off.
UCA's should be in today then I can overhaul the front suspension before it goes back up to 35's.
Plan was to put the 33's on my F-250 but it blew and injector cup or headgasket a couple weeks ago so I've been back in the F-150.

I replaced the parking brake switch on my truck. Jesus Christ! What a PITA

To whichever brilliant (idiotic) mechanical engineer at Ford designed the parking brake system on the F-150: Bite me!!!!
