Default Weird noise when accelerating.

Today I was out driving with my friend and his Ranger. Well, we ended up racing through the outside of town just having fun ya know? We ended up switching trucks for a few minutes and as we stopped at a stop sign, he lit up the tires, and I followed suit with his truck, no harm done right? Wrong. Now I have a freaking "putting" sound when I accelerate. At low speeds It sounds the same but when I get going it's just awful. Even though I didn't give much on the subject, any clue to what it is?

In all honesty it sounds like it is coming from the exhaust.. And when I shut the truck off it makes a small "Vrooo" noise from the passenger side engine bay. There is also a noise, I can't explain it, that comes from the same area when I'm driving. It's always been there so I did not think anything of it before, but it's a lot louder now. The truck does not have as much gitty-up and go, like it's hesitating.

Check the spark plug engine coil. My truck did the same thing. It started to stutter and at first the check engine light wasnt on but after a while it got worst and the light came on. Took it to my mechanic and he put the computer on it and it said my #2 coil was bad. It was only $60 bucks at Napa auto parts, and my truck drives fine now. So I say check the coils. I have a 8cly and each coil is independent so you have to use the computer to see which is bad. But if the check engine light is NOT on then I dont know what to tell ya!!!! Good Luck!!!!

Well, thanks for the input. I wiggled my fat butt underneath her and was checking things out. And I at -least- have a messed up front universal. I'll check out the other things after I get done replacing that. Hopefully that's all of her problems. The noise I was hearing when shutting off the Truck was my vacuum pump shutting down. So that should be okay.
