i have a 97 f150 with the 5.4 and sometimes when i go to start my truck it will make this whining noise and it will keep whining everytime i go to turn it over unless i turn the key all the way back. when i turn the key all the way back it resets something because my doors will lock twice. and then when i go to start it its fine

 

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid. It can be replaced withour removing the starter.
