truck started to make a weird noise from the front of the motor today(squeeling, clanking ish), i lightly wiggled some of the pullies and the idler pulley has some play, could that be the reason why? If not how do i go about checking what pulley the noise is coming from?

If your idler has play replace it that should fix your problem

i grabbed one today, and im ganna put it in tonight.

didnt fix it anyone else have an idea? could it be another bad pulley?

Do you have a stephascope to pin point it thats why I replaced my idler pully that would make it alot easier to find the noise check your belt tensioner water pump let me know what you find

Use pb blaster and have ur truck running, spray one pully at a time with it wait a second if it quiets down u know which one it is. Pb will only quiet it down for a second but it'll tell u which one it is. I have a squeaking bearing sound but I think it's my alternator bearing.

Is it a 4.2 V6? I have had a problem lke this and it turned out to be the cam sensor.
