Should have clarified better as to what all I’ve tested in my OP.

I was thinking switch too, went to the parts store to buy a new one and it was like 100$. Since it takes about 2 minutes to change it I asked the cashier if I could try it before I bought it and he let me, no luck.

I shouldn’t have vacuum on both because I tested power at the solenoids and they were switching as they should, of course until I put it back in 2 high, and the gem wouldn’t switch the ground back to the proper solenoid. Although I haven’t actually checked both at once on the actuator.

Yea both could be open at once. In 4 x 4, pull both vacuum hoses off actuator and see if one or both have vacuum. Easier than check selinoids at once.

Just trying to think outside the box brother

You’re all good.

I’ll try that in the next couple of days when it hopefully warms up. If I do have vacuum on both wouldn’t that mean that I either have a short to ground on one of the solenoids or the gem is bad? I’m not sure if the gem can physically ground both at once though.

I thought I heard of people talking about some relays that control the transfer case motor but can’t find the post I was reading or figure out where they’d be on the truck. Are you aware of anything like that?
