Default very bad transmission problem

Hello all. I recently purchased a 99 f150 4.6 4x4 auto extended cab. It had a bad transmission. Replaced the tranny with one from a 98 that I know is good. Got it all back together and took for a drive. Runs and drives great in first gear. In drive as it shifted in to 2 gear....it felt like it locked right up or like it was slammed into reverse. I quickly threw it into neutral.

No clue what is going on. Need some ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

OMG! It's just a faulty TPS sensor or Connector

Sounds like you used an e4OD instead of a 4r70w.

What is the tps? Another sensor of tranny? Not throttle position sensor?

Should I just swap the one from my 98 and clean the plugs? I didn't know that the tps could cause craziness like that

Yeah, you need an impact screw driver to remove the screw without damage. A Vise Grip will also work but will damage the screw.

Much easier if you have Multimeter.

Is it worth testing? What else could cause the issue I'm having? Or do you mean test reference and ground
