Default vacuum question

While searching for vacuum issues I found something that doesnt look right..

The black hose on the black Y connector trace into this....

The other hose on the Y connector goes to the A/C inside the cab

Then it traces to a black line that someone cut and used a larger hose to replace and it goes under the wheel well to the upper portion on the canister attached to the battery tie down....

any help I thank you

That's the OEM vacuum system, as far as I can see.

Crap I some what figured that....I was really hoping this was the issue because the only line left to check is the black a/c line inside the dash. I have PO171 and I know for a fact it's a vacuum leak because the a/c dies out under acceleration. I am just having trouble finding it.

Have you checked for leaks in the vacuum reservior behind battery. Also had the same ac to defrost problem and after checking all vacuum lines found that previous owner changed that check valve and installed backwards.

I just went back out there and the black line on the 3 prong connector (which connects to the black A/C line and the canister behind battery)was fix poorly with some black silicone. I tried to fix it with what I had at the house to see if that did the trick, if not I am going to go to ford to but factory replacement line....I am really hoping this cures my PO171 because 11 MPG sucks lol...

Also quickly when I reconnected the battery and started my gauges did something weird....the rpm gauge went all the way to max and then feel and I have never seen it do that. Does this happen to you guys...

Something like this is what you need:

There are elbows you can get as well:

The rubber vacuum elbows can be had at Auto zone, Oreilly etc.

Well I just drove it and unless my fixed didn't work then the leak is under the dash......mildly frustrating at the point
