Default Using the 4x4

My T-Case has not been locked in since October 09 when I got the truck. Would it be safe to try to lock it in just to make sure it works and to free the components? I've heard of these getting stuck in 4x4 before so is it safe to try it? It's manual on the floor. Any info appreciated.

Thanks...

I bought my old 96 F150 from the original owner in 2005. He had never used the 4x4 on it, so I tried it out, before I bought it. Went in smooth as butter. The only way to know is to try; im sure it will be fine.

its good to run it thru the 4x4 ranges a few times a year just to keep it all good. but no it won't hurt it to put it in even after it sits a while.
