Default Upgrade to a keyless entry module?

My truck has power locks, and the theft light flashes so I'm assuming there's a module with the keyless function and one without - Does anyone know if I can just buy the module from a truck with the keyless feature and swap it with mine? I see the module on eBay but just don't know if it's a simple swap.

or am I wrong - I cannot enter program mode so I'm guessing I don't have it. I've got a new key FOB and tried to enter program mode (cycle the key 8 times, and insert/remove the key 6 times) but it never enters program mode.

my truck is the same way but it doesn't have the module so I'm slowly installing my own system so I'll have remote start also.

I have a 2001 f-150 super-crew I didn't come with keyless entry remotes from the dealer, I bought 2 remotes on amazon for about 7 dollars each and the set-up was super easy just turn the key in the ignition forward and back 7 times I think wait for the locks to cycle and press the lock button on up to 2 remotes to set them up. it's been about 8 months and they still work you can find set-up videos on youtube.

I'd say the only way to know for sure if your truck came with keyless when it was new would be to have the dealer look it up for you via the vin number.

My 97 has keyless entry, and I have a key fob.. What I'm wondering is if I can take a key fob from say a 98 or 99 and use it with mine, since it's hard to find key fobs for my year.
