Universal joint or Rear Yoke, HELP
Recently my Drive shaft came off as I was driving down the street, I'm just learning to drive a standard and am wondering if my baptism by fire may have contributed. Anyway, through my internet search it seems like the likely cause will be a broken rear Universal Joint, but looking at it looks like it may be the Rear Yoke where the U-Joint connects. The Truck is a 2001 F150 V8, any tips on fixing it along with any feedback would be great. I have attached some pictures

You will need the yoke and a U joint. if your short on funds find the yoke at a salvage yard. You want the drive shaft to be sure its not bent. If your lucky you might find the whole assembly but as a rule the salvage yard will bend the shaft when they move the truck with a fork lift. If your shaft is good you would be advised to replace both U joints. as for the cause of the break it looks like that U joint was completely shot before it broke you just happened to be behind the wheel when it let go
