It all depends on how much boost you are planning on running you should be safe with 5-8psi on a bone stock engine. For the price check out sts turbo, i think they have a kit for this truck or a universal/ build your own kit for around 2 grand. Which isnt a bad price.

As someone who deals with turbocharged vehicles daily, I see a lot of people overlook fuel. To properly turbocharge your vehicle at bare minimum, you will need a turbo, manifolds, oil feed and drains(including possibly modding your oilpan for the drain), piping(oncluding a blow-off or recirculate valve), intercooler(don't be fooled, no intercooler is a bad idea), at least 3" exhaust, bigger injectors, and a tune. You may even need a new airflow sensor if your factory one cannot keep up.

It can be done. Just don't cheap out.

Cheers,
James

Yeah i'm going to be doing a kit for my truck soon...haven't figured out what size turbo yet but i have most of the parts already from my other turbo projects.

I've already got a Focus pump in it so fuel won't be an issue for my power level. I'm going to run 60lb injectors just in case i want to up it and play. But i would say 42's should be find.

I'd say if you do a basic kit with decent parts you'll be around $1500-2000. You could do it for next to nothing if you're crafty but you'd need to have basic fab skills. You could use a bov from a Eclipse or Evo....stock turbo off a GN or SVO? It'd spool quick but that's probably what you'd want.

Or you could spend $5-6k and use the really good stuff and actually coat and polish stuff so it's a show and go. That's the route i'm going! I'll be using ss custom headers and exhaust, polished or coated piping, and all the good clamps, hoses, and parts.

Turbo-$5-1500
WG-$2-500
Intercooler-$1-500
Bov-$50-200
Injectors-$2-400
Headers and piping-$1k+

Those prices are just a range of what it could cost. I spent $10k on the turbo and intake setup for my Rx7. And my buds are doing a $20k Viper setup as we speak...so it's all in how you want it to perform, last, and look.

Here's my Rx7 engine to show the upper end of a turbo look and cost. Everything is sanded, polished, or coated!

Excellent advice and information! Except... don't buy a fleabay turbo. With a v8, an hx35 could be a great option. Those are cheap on diesel forums.
I have a modified 1G Eclipse bov(meaning it holds more boost before leaking) and I will also have a Greddy RS up for sale soon. I'm swapping to the HKS on the Starion. I'll sell either one for $20+shipping.

Anyways, let me know if you need help, I have connections all over the turbo world from the last few years of dealing with such cars almost exclusively. Lol

Cheers,
James

A supercharger takes power to male power. They run off your crankshaft. They also deliver power on demand, and can make a good bit off it, but todays superchargers are much more efficient than those of the past. A turbo uses wasted heat and energy that would have just been tossed out of your exhaust to make power, however, they take a little timw to build up pressure(turbo lag). On that note, even now that arguement is becoming invalid as the technology gets better. Heres a summary: you want top emd and absolute power go turbo, if you need off the line performance and some midrange grunt, go super. Thy're both great.

On the other note, a Dodge is as good a truck as a Ford. Nothing wrong with them.
