True Duals with H-Pipe
I have a 98 F150 that I am going to run true duals with headers on. I called Summit to order my exhaust parts and he reccomended that if I was going to run true duals with headers that I needed to install an H-Pipe to even out the backpressure. Can anybody tell me if the H-pipe will effect the sound of my exhaust?
yes it will sound different, and better with an H pipe, and in my opinion, even better yet with an X pipe. Both help to eliminate the popping and crackling you get from true duals. The h pipe seems to give a deeper growl, the x pipe is a nice clean sound and flows better. I've had both on my truck, currently got the x pipe and love it. Do a forum search, x pipe vs h pipe is a long, heated debate!!! Good luck, post a sound clip when youre done!! If you want to go the x pipe route check out the magnaflow tru-x crossover, works very well under an f150
Well I went with the H-pipe just for the deeper tone. I read all the debates on H-pipe Vs, X-Pipe, and decided that I wanted more low end torque and a deeper tone. I ordered my parts from Summit which include: Summit H-pipe, 2 Cherry Bomb 18'' glasspacks, summit stainless steel-angle cut tips, JBA shorty headers, and I am going to run 2-1/4'' pipe. I am going to have it installed on Tuesday and will post a video for all to hear.
