I had the update done to my truck. It took 15 minutes. Call your local dealer and give them your vin to see if its been done yet. When I bought mine the cruise was disconnected from the first recall. Now they just put an inline fuse in it to correct it.

Sorry for your loss man.

So let me clarify; one person said 93-03 f series and another said 99-04 f 150's. Are both statements true? b/c if so, that excludes my 98 f-150. I just wanna be crystal clear.

Since May 1999, Ford had recalled a total of 1,071,000 vehicles in two separate recalls. CNN reported, however, that a document it obtained shows Ford was aware that it installed a total of 16 million of the switches between 1992 and 2003 in the following vehicles. The government investigation, which began in March, involves F-150 pickups manufactured from the 1995 to 1999 and 2001 to 2002 and Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigator models from 1997 to 1999 and 2001 to 2002.

from my understanding they used the chips from 92 - 03 but only had issues with them from 99 - 03.
