Default Transmission problems

Yesterday my od light was blinking. But truck was shifting fine. Went to take it to the auto parts store to get code read but they were closed. Turned truck back on and light turned off. Then I got home and unhooked batterie. Drove it today and no blinking od light but had rough downshifts. Checked fluid when it was cold and it was between add and cold. Truck has 167k on it. Should I just pay to get it flushed and hope it fixes it?

I get the feeling that you were having the rough shifts due to reseting your PCM when you unhooked your battery. The more you drive it the better it will get. At 167k I would suggest draining the pan and filling her back up. I would not go for the full on flush.

Learn to check your fluid correctly, then report back with useful information.

Edit: To answer your qeustion: Yes, yes you should.
