Transmission ID
Hey all. I need help determining what transmission I have.
I was told the trans that I pulled from the junkyard (by the people working there) would fit my truck. I have a 97 f150 xl v8 front wheel drive.
Anyways, the trans I pulled reads the following:
PKF-BC1
8C
F85P-7000-GA
108165
49W
RF-F3LP-7A040-AA
Can anyone help?

I know some Harley dealerships took 4x4's and ditched the rear axel and made a custom bed to load and unload bikes but thats about it on a front wheel drive truck. Unless you bought a Honda Ridgeline and then you cant even call it a truck, more like a tinker toy lol.
Sorry, not front wheel drive...lack of sleep. It's 2 wheel drive RWD.
I got the transmission out of another truck, so I don't have its door jamb to read to identify it. Just the id numbers i supplied in the first post.
My doorjamb reads U. How do i figure out what transmission I have for the replacement I got from the junkyard. I know I need an E40D to fit my truck since it's jamb reads U.

U is the 4R70W. Which is the replacement for the E40D.
Since yours is a 97 (year they changed ) I guess it might be either one.
If I'm right the only other one used was the 4R100.
The transmission pan on the 4R100 looks nothing like the other two.
So I would say if the pans look the same you are good to go.
Hopefully someone with better knowledge on this will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.
