Default Transmission ID

Hi. Got 2002 4.6. 2wd extended cab xlt. How can I ID my transmission ? Book says to check right hand side of trans. I see a tag there and got some numbers off it, but they are not trans numbers listed in manual. Any easy way to ID ?
One more...tag on my axle says to use FEHP oil only. What can I buy (name brand ??) Also, the little metal tag attached to a diff. cover bolt does not have any axle codes on it that are listed here on the forum ?? Any other place for find Diff. info ?
Thanks, Pete

Automatic with 4.6 is 4r70w. Manual is an M502 OD.
The rear end oil is 75-140 and is synthetic only. Your truck requires a friction modifier, so you have an LS rear end. Look at the door tag on the driver's door frame. Look at the Axle listed on the bottom right side. It should be an H9 or H6 or any letter and number then it's Limited Slip. If it is two numbers, like 19 or 26 then it is an open diff.

If you can't find it just post the door tag, We can decode it for you right there.

Here is what the 2002 f150 had for transmission combos. I didn't include the M502 5 spd manual.

Wow ! Good info.
I will check the door sill tag tomorrow and post it here.
Is the 4r70w a 4 or 5 speed ? I haven't driven it on the road yet.? (just in town and can't tell)
Needed the info on trans so I can get the stuff to change the filter.
Thanks a lot !
Pete

The only thing that looks remotely close is the 18. Did these trucks have a 3.08 option? I didn't think there was a 3.08 in the 10th gens.
