Default Transmission/Electrical Issues

'02 F-150 Supercrew Lariat FX-4, 5.4 with 160,000 miles

Backstory:
Yesterday it was 7 degrees F with a -10 windchill, buddy's superduty wasn't getting enough crank to fire. Start my pickup and pull over to hook up and give a little jump (didn't allow warm up). He cant even tell I am hooked up and doesn't seem to do anything. I rev the motor up to 1700 rpm to try and push a little more juice his way, still nothing.

Un-hook and proceed to leave, and my vehicle seems to run a little funny. I have had issues in the past with not wanting to shift into overdrive when cold. So I decide to pull over and try to cycle back through the gears to warm up the transmission more.

Big Problems start at this time: My vehicle will not idle back below 1400 rpm, slams into reverse from park and Drive from Nuetral, and will not shift out of 1st. I could get it to manually shift from first to second but no more.

Disconnect the positive battery cable for 5 minutes and now it runs fine. What is going on??????

Sorry for the long read but felt it was necessary to get all information there!!! Thank you in advance.

Sounds like it's working now.
Not much drive to come up with reasoning for that issue.
