Transmission?

I've never seen one without it... maybe later it was moved to the instrument cluster though (anyone know for sure?). There will be a button on the end of the shifter - push it and see if it turns on. Should be right next to the button.
I stole this pic from google.... it's an older truck, but the same light.

Do you know for sure that the light works?

If the check engine light is on, you need to scan it to get the codes. That will tell you, usually, what to check. Whitey's good with these tranny's, so you can fairly well bank on getting sent in the right direction. Although he still hasn't replied to my Transgard last post, lol

My shift lever had a lot of play so I went under to check the shift cable. All seems fine with the cable, still attached and in place and I was manually able to move the swivel which is attached to the trans.
I am now being told that the shift solenoid may be the problem. My research indicates that his controls the flow of fluid. Would this stop the trans from getting into gear?

P0603 Internal Control Module KAM Error
P0755 Shift Solenoid B Fault
P1400 DPFE Circuit Low Voltage
As I had mentioned before, my harness had been touching against one of the smaller engine exhaust pipes and I had smelt burning from that area. The corrugated plastic sheathing of the harness was melted but the wires inside appeared intact. I had placed some electrical tape as a buffer in the area where the sheath had melted.
Is the fault in the solenoid an electrical power issue?
Whitey, any help would be really appreciated.
