Default transfercase shift motor question need help

I have to order a transfercase shift motor, it is a borg/warner 4406 case with electric shift the motor that is on it has a square plug, the dealer calls this a 7 pin plug, however mine has a total of 8 wires, one of the wires goes to the tail shaft case and down inside the case, anyone know if when I order does the new on or 7pin plug have an extra wire to go to this one that leads to the case or do I have to adapt the plug in some how? any help would be great

I have the same situation and don't really see how that wire comes out. I am wondering if you have to cut and splice it with the new one. Have you found any answers as of yet. Or can anyone else chime in?

You have to pull off the black cap on the motor harness, pull out the blue rubber seal, then get a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the wire out. Once you have that out, slide it into the new motor harness reinstall the blue rubber seal, put the cap back on and install motor. When I did this the first time I clipped the black wire and installed male/female ends for easy removal. Hope this helps.

Let me know if you need any help. When I picked mine up I asked my buddy at the counter and he had no idea why they would do that. But I figured it out without to much trouble. Just be careful not to break that wire and pin when you pull it out and remember what spot you took it out of. Good luck.

same thing here. how do you pull that wire out after the seal is out. I've pulled and pulled and can't get it too budge and I'm tearing the insulation? Is there a trick to it?

I figured it out. There is a red plastic piece in the male end of the connector. You have to pull this out before the wires will realease from the harness. Pulls out easily then with needle nose pliers. Install complete, now. Thanks for the very helpful posts.
