Thanks. I've never dealt with electricals before. What would be the best way to attack this? Pull off the entire harness from both points of attachment (if that is even possible) then deal with the burnt wire?

Yes, that is what I would do if it were mine. However for other people, I have just ran a new wire by itself in it's own wireloom. By their request of course.

Ok. Where exactly under the truck does this particular harness terminate? I am a realy newbie to electricals as you can tell.

You have the one bulkhead in your picture. It's been a spell, but I think the rest of it is all down on the trans and t-case.

If you can't figure it out, I can look it up when I get home - but that'll be later on tonight.

I've been away so now just getting back to this. Whitey, just to be clear, this is a better pic of the harness that I am referring to in the pic. Want to make sure we are talking about the same thing. Is this the same as in the schematic you provided?

Yes, thanks, but I am trying to make sure it is the same thing on the truck that I am looking at.

Unless my book is wrong, then yes that should be exactly the same - I got that right out of my 97 to 03 book.

Ok. Where under the truck would this harness terminate? Would it be a single pigtail end or does it split off into multiple?

The PCM is behind the battery. Then it goes all over the place. I've never traced the harness down, but I would assume it would be pretty easy to follow the harness down to the trans and transfer case.
